Chris Silkwood of Silkwood Mosaics does glass mosaic artwork at her studio in Winter Street Studios. When we first met in 2015, she had an antiquated, nonresponsive website.
Artist’s website can widely range as far as their objective, form, and functions. The first meeting we had about redesigning her website, we wanted to gather her objectives for the website. It needed to be mobile responsive, updateable, focus on her works yet not sell them on the website. As a working artist, she did not have the time to learn (nor cared) to build or maintain a website herself, but it needed to easy to update to keep costs low.
What the solution came to be, was a semi-custom website built on WordPress that focused on her bold colors using contrast. The website is easy to maintain and update her gallery and press pages.
Also, in the age of social media, she needed someone to maintain her Facebook page, without the expense of posting all the time. With the business model she has, we put a plan in place to maintain her Facebook presence and create email marketing campaigns without breaking the bank.
